Homemade French Bread
A simple, easy delicious homemade french bread, using your bread machine’s dough program.

  1. Put all of the ingredients in your bread machine, in the order listed above.
  2. Press start on your dough program. Check the dough half-way through. If it’s too wet/sticky, add 1-2 Tbsps of flour.
  3. When the dough program is complete, pull the dough out and place into an oiled bowl; cover with a clean towel and place in a warm place. Let sit for 50-60 minutes or until doubled in bulk.
  4. Punch the dough down.
  5. On a lightly floured surface, roll the dough out into a rectangle about 12 x 18.
  6. Cut the dough into 2 pieces; roll up tightly, pounding out bubbles.
  7. Place the 2 pieces on a lightly greased cookie sheet. Cut slits into the dough, about every 2 inches.
  8. Cover the cookie sheet with a dry cloth and let sit for approximately 40 minutes (or until doubled in bulk)
  9. Preheat oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
  10. Bake 18-22 minutes, flipping each loaf about half-way through. Each side should be golden brown.
  11. Break off a piece, spread some butter on it and enjoy!
